November 1, 2023The City of Las Vegas utilized a new design concept for its Fire Station #106, consisting of two bays with a total of 7,600 square feet. This project went through full building energy systems commissioning and is LEED Silver®.
Prototype Design and Services
The project was constructed per the requirements of an “Essential Facility” as defined in chapter 16 of the 2009 International Building Code (IBC). Construction elements included slab on grade, CMU, metal stud and insulated concrete form wall construction, flooring (tile, VCT, carpet, athletic rubber, and vinyl) membrane and metal roofing, EIFS, and corrugated metal siding exteriors.
CMWorks, A Kleinfelder Company, managed both basic and enhanced commissioning, utilizing an independent commissioning agent. The scope included on-site and off-site work for 1.5 acres, including wet/dry utilities, storm drain with retention pond, dual driveway entrances with curb and gutter, concrete and asphalt paving, backup power generation, site lighting, trash enclosure, decorative fencing, and full landscaping.
Project Results
The City of Las Vegas Fire Station #106 was completed in 2012. It received a 2013 ICF Builder Award and a 2012 Station Style Design Award from Fire Chief Magazine.
