City of Las Vegas Fire Station No. 106
November 1, 2023Damonte Ranch High School, part of the Washoe County School District, is located in Reno, Nevada, and originally opened its doors in 2003. Since that time, the school has seen significant growth, and WCSD chose to add a 35,000-square-foot expansion to address overcrowding.
New Amenities
This $13-million expansion includes two wings that provide eleven regular classrooms, four larger/enhanced classrooms, three general science rooms, one chemistry lab, one business lab, one computer lab, and a special education room that will have the ability to divide into three rooms when needed. The building additions were two-story, concrete masonry unit wall structures supported by conventional shallow PCC foundations, with the exception to the western edge of the eastern addition along the existing school building where helical piers were used to support columns loads. The finished floor elevations of the building additions match adjacent finished floor elevations of the existing school building.
CMWorks, A Kleinfelder Company, provided construction management services to the Washoe County School District. Using the CMiS software, all records were available online, in real time, for the School District and all stakeholders to inspect as the project progressed.
Project Results
Construction of the new East and West wings was completed in March of 2018. Classrooms were moved into the new spaces over the spring and summer breaks, with full utilization during the following fall semester.
